The Woodland Heights Creatives (the Woodland Heights Neighborhood’s art committee) hosted the second annual Moon City Street Fair May 9-10. This was the first two-day arts event to be hosted by the committee, and it was a resounding success.
For two days, the promenade of Historic Lafayette Park was transformed into a bustling art market offering paintings, jewelry, fiber art, and so much more. Multiple neighborhood artists were featured alongside regional artists. The event proved the perfect time for many local residents to do their last-minute Mother’s Day shopping and a wonderful venue to bring mothers to shop for themselves on their special day. October offers Moon City Fall Festival and Lantern Walk events for Woodland Heights
Published November 24, 2025
The first Moon City Fall Festival was held at Historic Lafayette Park Oct. 4, bringing a celebration of art, music, and community spirit to Springfield’s oldest park. More than 30 artists and creators filled the promenade of Lafayette Park with booths showcasing paintings, handmade goods, jewelry, leatherwork, ceramics and beyond. The mild fall weather helped to create a perfect day to celebrate local talent.
Visitors wandered through rows of tents, meeting artists, watching demonstrations, and discovering one of a kind pieces. Organizers described the festival as a celebration not just of art, but of the community that makes it possible. The Woodland Heights Neighborhood Association emphasized how events like this help foster creativity and connection in the greater community. The Woodland Heights Art Committee is looking forward to making the next Moon City festival event even more memorable. Click here to read more.
First Moon City Street Fair in Woodland Heights won’t be the last

The Woodland Heights Neighborhood Association’s Art Committee presented the first Moon City Street Fair April 26 in the oldest park in Springfield — our very own historic Lafayette Park. The purpose of the fair was to provide an opportunity for artists from our neighborhood and the surrounding area to showcase their creativity. The committee sought to attract a diverse set of artistic mediums and talents. We wanted to inspire new artists to embrace their creativity and allow the public to express their appreciation by purchasing from them.
The morning started out a bit cool, but by show time it was a beautiful day. The show had a number of artists who had never participated in an art show. Nervous energy mixed with excitement was evident as all of the artists began to set up their booths to display their creativity. The committee scurried about to support them and make sure any questions they had were answered and needed support with set-up given. At start time, as if by magic, the shoppers arrived—and they showed their appreciation by purchasing art. It was a great day for both new and experienced artists. Click here to read more
